The highly lauded child-rearing guru, Dr. Benjamin Spock (1903-1998) who taught tens of millions of parents in the U.S. the “spare the rod and spoil the child” mentality—15 years later confessed that his own advice had been incorrect.  Spock graduated from Yale (as did his father; who was also a long-time general counsel of the New Haven Railroad). The 6’ 4” Spock was on Yale’s championship rowing team and may have been Skull and Bones; (no relation to the Dr. Spock and Dr. Bones of Star Trek—or maybe the writers of that series chose those two names for a reason); and was also on the U.S. Olympic rowing Crew (“Mens’ Eights”) with team captain James Rockefeller that won the gold medal in Paris in 1924.  Spock, many years later, won 3rd Place in a rowing contest, crossing the 4 miles of the Sir Francis Drake Channel between Tortola and Norman Island in 2.5 hours—at the age 84.  He was inducted into the Eta chapter of the Zeta Psi fraternity at Yale and the senior society “Scroll and Key”.  Spock’s family was from the Netherlands, the name originally having been Spaak.  Spock’s son Michael was director of the Boston Children's Museum; Michael’s son Peter, also worked part time at the Museum when he was 22 years old, and committed suicide on Christmas Day (1983) by jumping from the roof of the Museum he had long been diagnosed with schizophrenia). Although Spock recanted his psychobabble concerning raising children (after the damage was done, his book selling over 55 million copies) he did not confess Christ or repent of his other errors.  Spock confessed his conversion to socialism (for which he became an activist), and in 1972 ran for President of the U.S. as the People’s Party candidate.  He also championed the legalization of abortion.  Please tell me how Spock’s desiring the legalization of abortion could possibly be in harmony with his own declaration: “The future of a country is based upon its children.  Destroy the children and the country is doomed.”  Those diametrically opposed things cannot be in harmony.

The carnal mind is anti-intellectual and self-masochistic; in a nose-dive, with the throttle on full, the stick jammed, and ground zero approaching rapidly—all the while under the delusion that it is flying straight upward to humanistic progress and “Nirvana”.  Scripture tells us that,

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:8)

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (4:12:16:25)

24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the Devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” (II Timothy 2)

[Understand: Even as no man is a moral “free agent” charting his own destiny in life, neither is any angel (fallen or elect). Satan and his demons dance to God’s tune according to His Drama, according to His Timetable and Script, whether they realize it or not. They are the means by which He brings into reality certain portions of His Full Plan. Why...? —because God determined that there were to be villains (and victims) in His Drama, to showcase the Full Panoply of His Diviner Perfections / Attributes, for His His Own Purpose and for His Own Glory.]

Christ, the Personification of Wisdom declares,

“But he that sinneth against Me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate Me love death.” (Proverbs 8:36)

19I call Heaven and Earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you Life and Death, Blessing and Cursing: therefore choose Life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey His Voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for He is thy Life, and the length of thy days...” (Deuteronomy 30)

“Because the carnal mind is enmity [hostility, hatred] against God: for it is not subject [in submission] to the Law of God, neither indeed can be.” (Romans 8:7)]

Similarly, Charles Darwin (1809-1882), founder of the pseudo-scientific “theory” of Evolution (which is considered a “fact,” though unproveable; it is not science, but a Pharisaical false religion that ignores and violates its own precepts, principles, and laws, when it suits them) repented of his un-Biblical doctrine.  In, Did Charles Darwin Become a Christian?* (1988), Wilbert H. Rusch reported,

[* 38pp., booklet, 4.00 + P&H.]

“About 20 years ago, a pamphlet entitled, “Darwin’s Last Hours” came to my attention.  Essentially it contained the account as follows—

[Elizabeth Reid Cotton (1842-1922) who became Lady Hope in 1877 when she married Admiral, Sir James Hope (who died in 1881), was born in Tasmania, to British irrigation engineer, General Sir Arthur Cotton. Before she married her family had relocated to England in 1869, settling in Dorking, Surrey, c.12 miles from Downe, where Charles Darwin lived. Elizabeth began her evangelistic and philanthropic work, organizing a Sunday school “Coffee-Room” where food and non-alcoholic drinks were served. Florence Nightingale distributed copies of Cotton’s book, Our Coffee-Room (1876) [247pp., which was followed by, More About Our Coffee Room (1878), 248pp.] and established her own coffee room in her village of Whatstandwell in Derbyshire.  Elizabeth also held Bible classes and prayer meetings.  Elizabeth assisted American evangelist Dwight L. Moody during his meetings (1874-1875), counselling women converts.  She married Irish businessman and philanthropist T(homas). A(nthony). Denny, 24 years her senior, in 1893.  They established temperence hostels for working men and soldiers who returned from the Anglo-Boer War; the largest being the Connaught Club in Marble Arch, which housed several hundred men.   Notes mine. Last Days of Charles Darwin

(from The Collapse of Evolution by Luther Townsend)

“Lady Hope, a consecrated English woman, speaking before a Northfield audience, August 15, 1915, on Mr. Darwin’s religious life, gave the following account of a personal interview that subsequently was published in the Watchman Examiner.   The article as published was written by her own hand, and this is what she says:

“It was on one of those glorious autumn afternoons that we sometimes enjoy in England when I was asked to go in and sit with the well known professor, Charles Darwin.  He was almost bed-ridden for some months before he died.  I used to feel when I saw him that his fine presence would make a grand picture for our Royal Academy, but never did I think so more strongly than on this particular occasion.  He was sitting up in bed, wearing a soft embroidered dressing gown, of rather a rich purple shade.  Propped up by pillows, he was gazing out on a far-stretching scene of woods and corn fields, which glowed in the light of one of those marvelous sunsets which are the beauty of Kent and Surrey.  His noble forehead and fine features seemed to be lit up with pleasure as I entered the room.  He waved his hand toward the window as he pointed out the scene beyond, while in the other hand he held an open Bible, which he was always studying.

“What are you reading now?” I asked, as I seated myself by his bedside.

“Hebrews,” he answered. “The Royal Book, I call it.  Isn’t it grand?”  Then placing his finger on certain passages, he commented on them.

I made some allusion to the strong opinions expressed by many persons on the history of the creation, its grandeur, and then their treatment of the earlier chapters of the Book of Genesis.

He seemed greatly distressed, his fingers twitched nervously, and a look of agony came over his face as he said,

“I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything, and to my astonishment the ideas took like wild fire.  People made a religion of them.”

“Then he paused, and after a few more sentences on the “holiness of God” and “the grandeur of this Book,” looking at the Bible which he was holding tenderly all the time, he said,

“I have a summerhouse in the garden, which holds about thirty people.  It is over there.  I know you read the Bible in the villages.  Tomorrow afternoon I should like the servants on the place, some tenants, and a few of the neighbors to gather there.  Will you speak to them?”

“What shall I speak about?” I asked.

“ ‘CHRIST JESUS’, he replied in a clear, emphatic voice, adding in a lower tone, “AND HIS SALVATION”.  “Is not that the best theme?  And then I want you to sing some hymns with them.  You lead on your small instrument, do you not?”

“The wonderful look of brightness and animation on his face as he said this I shall never forget, and he added: “If you take the meeting at 3 o’clock this window will be open, and you will know that I am joining in the singing.” (pp. 1,2)

[Lady Hope reputedly detailed the most-complete account of this story in a letter that she wrote to S. James Bole, c.1919, who published it in 1940. Later, over the years, it was republished in various forms, by various persons / publishers. It was published in the Reformation Review (October 1955) and in the Monthly Record (February 1957) of the Free Church of Scotland.  Leftists, liberals, God-haters, antichrists, or confused, perverse people routinely attack nearly anyone in the True Faith.  No one is free from their scurrilous lies, including Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, the Pilgrims, the Puritans, the Reformers—some accuse the Apostle Paul of being a secret enemy of Christianity, attempting to destroy it from within; some perverse minds clain that King David and Christ Jesus were homosexuals.  Thus, the fact that some may declare this account of Darwin to be a lie concocted by Lady Hope, and assassinating her character, does not mean that their accusation is true.

Darwin’s family repudiated Lady Hope’s claims, and the liberal leftists were quick to jump on the bandwagon. Darwin’s son Francis maintained—promoting his own book—that his father’s agnostic views “are given in my Life and Letters of Charles Darwin, Vol. I., pp. 304–317”.  Francis’ book was published in 1887, five years after his father’s death.  There is no question concerning his father’s agnostic views throughout his life.  The question is whether or not in his last days he changed those views.  That actual topic, other than in blanket, unsubstantiated denial, Francis did not address.  Open University lecturer and biographer James Moore, in his, The Darwin Legend (1994), suggests that Hope had visited Darwin sometime between September 28, and October 2, 1881, when Darwin’s children Francis and Henrietta were away, and while Darwin’s wife Emma was present.  However, he suggests that Lady Hope embellished the story.  Again, that she took liberties and wove a fanciful may or may not be true.

The fact remains that many infidels, atheists, agnostics—even those who set out to prove that the Bible was not true, by the Grace of God, in their attempt to disprove the Bible, were converted and confessed it to be true. Among these, Simon Greenleaf*1 (Professor of Harvard Law, who wrote the book on “Evidence” and was invited to Harvard by Chief Justice Joseph Story; and those 2 were responsible for that Law School’s greatness), Scottish structural Engineer Adam Rutherford, and nihilistic Russian mathematician, Ivan Panin.*2

*1 Greenleaf was challenged by one of his students to apply the rules of evidence and authenticity of documents to the Gospel; after detailed study Greenleaf confessed they were true and confessed Christ.  See the highly abbreviated version of the massive work that Greenleaf produced: Testimony of the Evangelists: Gospels Examined by the Rule of Evidence (Administrated in Courts of Justice), 128pp., pb., 13.00 + P&H; or full edition (University of Michigan Library), 6x9 pb., 640pp., 35.00 + P&H.

Early in life, Darwin professed Christianity.  Later, after his ideas became popular, he departed from the faith and expressed that he could not believe how anyone could believe in the Bible or Jesus Christ.  However, as he matured, his view apparently changed again, and he soberly expressed (reflecting on his time, travelling the world’s seas by ship) that if it were not for the civilizing influence of Christianity, any traveller would have far greater fears:

“For should he chance to be at the point of shipwreck on some unknown coast, he will most devoutly pray that the lesson of the missionary may have reached thus far [to the savages].” [Brackets mine. R.A.B.]

The man called “Darwin’s Bulldog”, English biologist, Sir Thomas Huxley, though an agnostic, did not think much of those who insulted Christianity.  Many such antichrists and infidels thought that they had a confederate in someone like Huxley or Darwin—but found out in no uncertain terms that such was not the case!  They struggled to believe, they wanted to believe, and admired those who believed and were repulsed by those who insulted Christianity.

“However, Huxley, later in life, offered these terse words in upbraid of those persons who claimed the Bible to be unreliable nonsense:

‘Many seem to think that, when it is admitted that the ancient literature, contained in our Bibles, has no more claim to infallibility than any other ancient literature; when it is proved that the Israelites and their Christian successors accepted a great many supernaturalistic theories and legends which have no better foundation than those of heathenism, nothing remains to be done but to throw the Bible aside as so much waste paper. I have always opposed this opinion. It appears to me that if there is anyone more objectionable than the orthodox Bibliolater,*1 it is the heterodox Philistine*2 who can discover in a literature, which in some respects has no superior, nothing but a subject of scoffing and an occasion for the display of his conceited ignorance of the debt he owns to former generations.’

[*1 Someone who holds firmly to the literal meaning of the Bible in every respect.
*2 Someone who is a blasphemous unbeliever.  Notes mine. R.A.B.]

“Though Huxley struggled with doubt, he clearly realized that the Bible contains some element beyond man’s reasoning and only fools mock what they do not understand. He believed the Bible should be manditory in public education, that for 3 centuries it had been “woven into the life of all that is best and noblest in English history; that it has become the national Epic of Britain.... that it is written in the noblest and purest English and abounds in exquisite beauties of mere literary form” and that it keeps the reader in touch with the ancientest histories of nations of the world.  He continued:

‘I have always [in the past] been strongly in favor of secular education, in the sense of education without theology.  But I must confess that I have been no less seriously perplexed to know by what practical measures the religious feeling, which is the essential basis of conduct, was to be kept up in the present utterly chaotic state of opinion on these matters without the use of the Bible.  The pagan moralists lack life and color, take the Bible as a whole, make the severest deductions which bare criticism can dictate, and there still remains a vast residium of moral beauty and grandeur.  By the study of what other book could children be so much humanised and made to feel that each figure in that vast historical procession fills, like themselves, but a momentary space in the interval between the Eternities; and earns the blessings or the curses of all time, according to its effort to do good and hate evil, even as they also are earning their payment for their work?’ (“The School Boards: What they Can do and what they May do,” 1870. Critiques and Addresses, p. 51) [Brackets mine for clarity. R.A.B.]

“He believed the Bible to be the moralizing force of society, as well as a source of our greatest literature and history, though he baulked at theology itself, and supernatural things he could not understand. However, in his ignorance, he did not realize that the very reason the Bible is a moralizing force, is because of the spiritual (supernatural) force behind it, and the theology upon which that morality is actually based.” (God, Man, and the Universe, Balaicius, pp.54,55)

“Another famous evolutionist / agnostic, a grandson of Thomas Huxley, was Sir Julian Sorell Huxley (1887-1875), who was also a famous biologist.  Julian Huxley was shockingly honest (not recognizing his own shame).  He declared,

“[I suppose the reason that] we all jumped at [believing] the [Darwinian] Origin [of the Species, thereby embracing Evolution] was because the [very] idea of God interfered with our sexual mores.*” [brackets added by me for clarity.]

* Mores (a Latin word prounounced like the eels, morays) are “folkways or customs of central importance that are accepted by society without question, which embody the fundamental moral views of society.” Mores also entail the recognition of societal taboos. Taboos are particularly vile forms of immorality. Sadly, as our society becomes less and less Christian, as we absorb pagan peoples, what were once universally recognized as taboos, are now considered, “perfectly normal lifestyle choices”).

“What an astounding confession!

“Julian’s younger brother, Aldous Leonard Huxley (1894-1963) was a famous British author, moralist, humanist, and philosopher.  He too made a rather amazing confession (revealing the hopelessness and ignorance of those “experts” who have rejected God):

“It is a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with the human problem all one’s life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than ‘Try to be a little kinder.’”

“What an understatement...!  That’s like telling someone who is dying of cancer, “Try to feel a little better” or someone in prison: “Try to feel a little freer.”  Julian and Aldous rejected the Word of God because their grandfather doubted its Divinity.  Even as a leak in a dam or a dyke starts as a small trickle, it will eventually erode and weaken the edifice until it bursts forth in destruction.  So also it is with doubt, disbelief, sin, and immorality.  Those who reject God and His perfection, have no hope.” (pp.63,64)

Leftists, who hate God and hate the truth, fixate on the past, in order to sustain the dogma of what they want reality to be.  If one of their champions ever defects to the side of the truth, they resort in ad hominem attacks against the one whom they for decades had praised.  There is no honor among thieves, nor loyalty among fickel infidels, nor honesty among antichrist God-haters.  Even a Jew who exposes evil of other persons who may just happen to be Jews themselves, is labelled a “self-hating Jew”, by other Jews.  The most-eminent apologists for Evolution, when painted into a corner, will confess that Evolution / Big Bang has no evidence of first cause, and it cannot be proven; it must “be taken upon faith” and then built upon—and that is religion, not science.  Likewise, when their feet are held to the fire (as one day indeed they shall be, and not just the feet) will confess that they believe in Evolution because to them Creation is untenable (that is, they refuse to believe there is a God to whom they are answerable—but, delusion and denial does not change reality—it just makes the impact at ground zero at terminal velocity with Truth, with God on Judgment Day, that much more of a shock).  Contrary to the lies of infidels, no archaeological discovery has ever disproved the Bible.  Those that have insulted the Word of God and claimed it to be in error, when an archaeological find proves the Bible to have been correct all along, rarely issue an apology, admit that they were wrong, or reform themselves or change their opinions, or even correct their false accusations in their books or lectures.  They are “lovers of themseves and pleasure” and not lovers of God, Truth, or Rigtheousness; and they prefer darkness rather than light, for their deeds are evil.

Modernly, the conservative Canadian psychologist (born in the same month and year as I was, and one of my degrees is also in psychology—though I understood truth before I earned my degree, and simply ignored all humanism and other error), Dr. Jordan Peterson himself now believes in God; though he still has a way to go toward understanding the Bible, which is not interpreted according to humanistic notions; but based upon the perfect internal logic of the Word of God.

Understand, these converted former infidels may indeed be / have been quite far from sound Reformed Doctrine; even as those former doubters or infidels below.  However, regeneration is not based upon the believer’s understanding of every point of doctrine—that is supposed to be the genre of sanctification / spiritual growth / maturity.  No human “converts” to Christianity.  Those who think they have, merely have changed their “pseudo-spiritual club membership”. The Holy Spirit coverts—regenerates.  Even as no fetus ever participated (or even voted or expressed interest) in his own conception; nor any baby his own birth (but is the result of the will and act of the father in procreation), so also Spiritual conception / regeneration is the Act of God.  Likewise, spiritual growth / santification is the Work and Agency of the Holy Spirit:

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him.” (Colossians 2:6)

How did we receive Christ...?

8For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.  10For we are His Workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works [obedience to all that He commanded], which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”* (Ephesians 2)

* Leviticus 26:3; Deuteronomy 5:32,33; 8:6; 10:12; 11:22; 26:17; 28:9-14; 30:16; Joshua 22:5; Isaiah 30:21.]

Even men such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, and Sir Charles Bradlaugh, M.P., to various degrees, repented of their former atheism, agnosticism, infidelity, or Deism, and confessed Christ.  Understand, your salvation is not based upon your doubts.  Thomas was not damned.  Christ remonstrated Thomas,

27...be not faithless, but believing. .... 29...because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20).

Like the man who wanted Christ to deliver his demon-possessed and tormented child, cried out to Christ, so ought any who struggle to believe:

“Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief” (Mark 9:24).

Faith originates in no man.  It is a Gift of God via the Holy Spirit to the elect of His people whereby they believe unto salvation, and unto the richness of His Blessings.

Despite Jefferson’s disbelief in miracles, many sentiments that he expressed are not those of a Deist or infidel:

“The God who gave us life gave us Liberty at the same time. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are a gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

“The Bible is the source of Liberty.”

“Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that their liberties are the gift of God?”

Jefferson, indeed, was soured to denominationalism, but expressed

“The truth is, that the greatest enemies to the doctrines of Jesus are those, calling themselves the expositors of them [i.e., ministers], who have perverted them [doctrines] for the structure of a system of fancy absolutely incomprehensible, and without any foundation in His genuine words... But we may hope that the dawn of reason [the Spirit of Christ, the Word: Logos: the mind of the Spirit] and freedom of thought in these United States, will do away all this artificial scaffolding and restore us to the primitive doctrines of this most venerated reformer of human errors [Jesus Christ].”

“During one presidential campaign, his opponents referred to him as a ‘howling atheist.’ But nothing could have been further from the truth. Sadly, a child of the enlightenment during the Age of Reason, Jefferson baulked at things that did not seem rational, such as miracles.  Toward the end of his life, he did produce his own copy of the New Testament, which has come to be known as the Jeffersonian Bible.  He studied the Bible in Greek, Latin, French, and the King James English (among other versions).  He cut and pasted what he considered to be a distillation of thought and truth into an 84-page (four-column, four language) edition, leaving out anything that smacked of miracles or the supernatural.  However, we truly cannot know his heart or mind, even as he himself declared in the face of his detractors, that his purpose in producing his own version of the Scriptures was:

‘the result of a life of enquiry and reflection, and very different from that anti-Christian system, imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions’.” (God, Man, and the Universe, pp.59,60)

[See also: Doubting Thomas: The Religious Life and Legacy of Thomas Jefferson (2014) Mark Beliles and Jerry Newcombe, 520pp., pb., 26.00 (reg. 30.00) + P&H; also available in Hb, 45.00 (reg. 50.00) + P&H.]

Benjamin Franklin expressed:

“The moral and religious system which Jesus Christ transmitted to us, is the best the world has ever seen, or can see.”

“He who will restore men to the primitive principles of Christianity will alter the face of the world.”

“I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel... I therefore beg leave to move that henceforth, prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven and its blessings on our deliberation be held in this assembly every morning.”

Again, these are not the words of a Deist.  Franklin also penned this epithet to appear on his gravestone (though for some reason it was never used):

“The body of B. Franklin, printer (like the cover of an old book, its contents torn out, and stripped of its lettering and guilding), Lies here, food for worms. But the work shall not be lost; for it will (as he believed) appear once more — In a new and more elegant edition, Revised and corrected — By the Author.”

Franklin also attended evangelistic meetings in Philadelphia by the English Evangelist George Whitefield (pronounced wit-feeld).  Ever the scientist, having heard that Whitefield’s powerful voice could be heard a mile away in an open-air meeting, Franklin did his calculations, paced off the distance which would be required to accomodate a crowd of 30,000, and Franklin himself was convinced.  Franklin had offered Whitefield some advice concerning collecting of money for an orphanage, and Franklin was a little put off, and decided that during the meeting, Whitefield would not get any money from him in the collection; but Franklin was so moved when the collection came he emptied his pockets of all he had.  Someone whom Franklin knew had determined not to give money to Whitfield for his project, and purposely left all money at home—yet was so moved during Whitefield’s message he asked a friend whom he knew if he would loan him money so that he could give it to Whitfield.  After Whitefield’s meetings had ended, Franklin reflected, what a

“wonderful... change soon made in the manners of our inhabitants. From being thoughtless or indifferent about religion,* it seem’d as if all the world* were growing religious,* so that one could not walk thro’ the town in an evening without hearing psalms sung in different families of every street.”

[* When our Founders, and the Reformers, Puritans, and Pilgrims used the word “religion”—they used it solely as a synonym for Christianity.  They did not envision a pluralistic society. They knew antithetical philosophies, religions, or peoples could not coexist; and they had no intention of them coexisting; and did not establish “equality”.  They were true Christians who believed the Word of God, and obeyed it—including, “no other gods”.  This entails not tolerating them, nor letting them enter Christendom, and especially not letting them build pagan temples in Christendom.  The violations of God’s Commands, in keeping with the Law of the Harvest, has destroyed Christendom.  Indeed, they may have, on rare ocassion, used the word “religion” in reference to false religions, in lieu of a better word; but any such usage would be clearly revealed by context.

* See my annotated edition of this book, which itself offers abundant evidence of this: The Power of Prayer: The New York Revival of 1858 (1858) Samuel Prime, 237pp., pb,. retypset, notes by R.A. Balaicius; excellent shows moving of God’s Spirit upon His people when they truly seek Him; 16.50 + P&H.

What a lovely change, indeed, it would be to hear such, instead of hearing the coarse jesting, curses, profanity, and filth that flow from the savage minds and mouths in modern Christendom, invaded by and permeated with the antichrist Third World—in addition to squalor, vermin, feces, grafitti, blaring rap filth, pornography, homoperversion paraded on display, pagan temples; all these are blights upon and evidence of infidelity and rebellion of God’s people.]

Even the infidel, Thomas Paine, who at times expressed unkind words about Christianity, but clearly repented:

“Wherefore, political as well as spiritual liberty, is a gift of God, through Christ.”

“I die in perfect composure and resignation to the will of my Creator, God.”

“The duty of man is plain and simple, and but consists of two points: his duty to God, which every man must feel, and his duty to his neighbor, to do as he would be done by.”

It needs to be remembered—or realized, that only God knows the heart. Some could claim,

“O that repentant thief didn’t really repent. It was a jail-house, death-bed confession and there is no proof that he would have stuck with it had he been given a reprieve and taken down alive from the cross.”

Well, subjective fantasy is not reality.  Christ Himself declared that the man would be with Him in Paradise (Abraham’s Bosom; until Christ delivered these firstfruits of those who had died in faith from Adam, to the Father, shortly before His Resurrection).  Furthermore, it would also seem that the rich young ruler, who went away sorrowful, as the things of this world, and his riches held greater importance to him—eventually repented.  This is not wishful thinking, but is based upon factual evidence, if one understands true Theology, Sound Doctrine.  Scripture records, “Then Jesus beholding him loved him...”  God is not doubleminded.  He does not love whom He hates and will not damn whom He loves—and God’s Love is not impotent!  Therefore, at some point between when the rich young ruler went away sad and when he died, the Holy Spirit must have come upon him, regenerating him unto life, granting him faith to believe, and repentance unto salvation.  Only God knows the heart / mind.  Man looks on the outward appearance, and is often fooled (the majority probably thought that the Pharisees and Judas himself were first in line for the Kingdom of Heaven); but Christ Himself said that MANY on the Day of Judgement—not the overtly wicked, but—those who thought that they were “good Christians” even doing “wonderful works” in Jesus’ Name, will hear, “I never knew you; depart from Me ye that work iniquity [lawlessness*].”

[* that is, those who have rejected God’s Perfect, unchanging Law, for the doctrines and commandments of men; the “new morality”.  “He who would be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”   The morality that God established, each and every time that He declared, “This shalt thou do” and “Thou shalt not” has not changed, not one jot or tittle—and never shall.  The world’s (and the Apostate Church’s) polluted notion of “morality” calls “evil” everything that God declared to be good; and calls “good” that which He declared to be evil. Morality never changes.  If your concept of what’s right and wrong is harmonious with that of the world, you are the enemy of God.  What God declared to be sin and abominations 4,000 years ago still are, and ever shall be.

It is Antichrist doctrine that claims that Jesus “broke down all barriers” or “did away with” the Law of God.  Christ Himself declared, “Think NOT that I am come to destroy the Law... I am NOT... not one jot or tittle shall pass from the Law”.  Morality never changes. Man’s polluted and perverse notions change, and even the majority of “Christians” think that God must change and conform to the standards and notions of modern man.  God is Immutable and Perfect.  He commanded, “Be holy as I am Holy”; and since He is Immutable, we cannot obey His Command if the Standard of Morality for us changed, but does not for Him.  The minds of most “Christians” are polluted.  Our minds and wills are to conform to His.  Those who don’t, that is simply evidence that they were never regenerated.

The only barrier that Christ broke down was that which kept God’s people from reconciliation with their God.  The only thing that was abolished was the Curse of the Law (not the Law itself), the Judgement, the Death Sentence that was against, us, because Christ paid it in full for the elect of His people.  The Law was not the problem (those who think so have unregenerate minds and follow a false christ, not knowing the Voice of the Shepherd, because they are not His sheep); sinful man was and is the problem — “finding fault with THEM” [God’s sinful people; not the Law itself which they violated] (Hebrews 8:8ff.).  “Wherefore the Law is Holy, and the Commandment Holy, and Just, and Good” (Romans 7:12)  God’s Word, His Law is an extension of His Mind, His Will.

The only part of the Law that Christ fulfilled, was the Law of Atonement for sin, the sacrifice of clean animals for temporary covering of sin, until Christ came—and to Whom it pointed: The Perfect Lamb of God.   The Law itself was never for salvation (that is a terribly false notion by those who do not know the Word of God).  The Law is the Standard of Morality, God’s “House Rules” that He commanded to His people throughout all their generations forever; and to a thousand generations (it has only been about 178 from Adam until now).

Christ is not Saviour of those for whom He is not Lord.  Your Lord is the one you obey.  “If ye love Me keep My [God’s] Commandments.”  Those truly regenerated know that,

19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (I Corinthians 6)

Those who live as if they were not bought with a price, most likely were not.  How you live is evidence of regeneration; the daily walk of obedience is the daily activity in which we are to be congnizant “with fear and trembling”; because if the Holy Spirit is not working obedience into you, ye are none of His.  Obedience is a by-product of regeneration / salvation; not part of it.

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)

What are the lusts of the flesh...? —the violation of all that God commanded, as the subsequent verses (19-21) clearly indicate:

“Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings.”

Walking in the Holy Spirit, being a branch on the Vine / Tree of Christ, will cause one to produce Christ’s Fruit: obedience to all that God commanded (as long as one actually reads and meditates upon the Word of God to learn what God actually commanded—and does not wallow in the false doctrine of modern false prophets that contradict Christ Himself when they claim that the Law was abolished.  A child does not become his father’s son by obeying; he is his father’s child by the father’s will and act in procreation; but through obedience he establishes himself as an honorable son whom the father will bless, and cause to inherit of him.  A tree does not become an apple tree by bearing apples; an apple tree bears apples because that is what its Creator ordained for it to bear. Those that bear not fruit (not their own counterfeit fruit, or the world’s fruit, but Christ’s Fruit—obedience to all that God commanded) are hewn down and cast into the fire.

Sadly, some persons come to the truth at the end of their lives, at a time when there is little good they can do with it; but we can rejoice that they at least come to the truth, as did the repentant thief on the cross.*  This can be compared to the wicked King Manasseh of Judah, who introduced paganism into Israel.  God judged Manasseh by having him conquered and deported into captivity.  However, Manasseh repented; God released him from captivity, and he returned to Israel where he did his best to iradicate the idolatry he had introduced, even having one of the longest reigns of any king of Israel or Judah.  However, so strongly had the paganism that he introduced taken hold, that even he could not eradicate it completely (II Chronicles 33:1-17).  So also, I imagine, Darwin, even if he were alive today, could not undo all the harm he did, even if he repented on live television before the entire world, repudiating Evolution and any anti-Biblical notion, and imploring people to return to truth and eschew all false antichrist science.  Many indeed would do so; but the majority would cling to their sin—being strong delusion that God sent them, to believe a lie, and fully earn the Judgment that He has prepared for them.  This is a powerful lesson to us all.

Sadly, many arrogant Christians claim that Jefferson or Paine or Frankin, “...was no Christian...!”.  Their spewing of ignorance reminds me of the Book of Jude:

10But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.  11Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.  12These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.”

How dare they speak of that of which they are totally ignorant.  How dare they damn to Hell someone who may have trusted in Christ.  Did God appoint them Porter to the Gates of Heaven...?  Did God give them information that only the Spirit of God knows...? since God Alone is the Discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  How sad that such fools think that they know the mind of someone who lived 250 years ago, whom they never met.  People espouse different views throughout their lives.  If truly regenerated by God’s Holy Spirit, one can never be “unregenerated” by falling into doubt or sin.

Scripture speaks extensively on this subject, stating that the fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge (Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 1:7; 9:10).  Christendom is being destroyed because the majority of “Christians” worship a false god: one who elicits no fear, being only “luv, luv, luv”; who elicits no respect—for how can one respect a god who has no standards? a god who kowtows to his creatures? a god, to some, who, even as the gods of pagan mythology, shares the same foibles, weaknesses, and vices of his creatures?  Such a god is not Wise (let alone All-Wise, Omniscient*), Moral, Good, or Perfect. Such a god could only be considered “good” if the concept of “goodness” is degraded into a polluted, humanistic blind tolerance, acceptance, and ignoring of all that is right; and a god who does not recognize or enforce what is right, is neither Righteous or Just. Wisdom, Respect, Discipline, and Morality come only from the Word of God.

[* Omniscience includes understanding the difference between good and evil and loving good and hating evil; for Omniscience includes Wisdom, Discernment, Discretion; and Omniscience would know the consequences of evil, and its end, and choose only that which is good. God also is Good, Perfect, Righteous, and Just—and thus, He can do no other than love what is good and hate what is evil.]

“To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

It is also sin to those true Christians, who do not know it is sin—

47And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.  48But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.  For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” (Luke 12)

Why...?

—because ignorant sin is sin nonethless.  It is the DUTY of sons / servants to know the will of their father / master.

“When ye have done it not unto the least of these My brethren, ye have done it not unto Me.”
